Wenge Wood Characteristics
USES: Wenge wood is used in architectural woodwork, furniture and flooring .
ORIGINS: West Africa, primarily Congo, Tanzania, and Mozambique
BOTANICAL NAME : "Millettia spp."
OTHER COMMON NAME: Panga Panga
COLOR DETAILS: Ranges from dark brown to almost black .
WORKABILITY: Hard. Can have interlocking grain leading to tear-outs. Use of carbide tips recommended as well as slower speeds for machining. Glues well.

Received the Wenge and everything looks great. The 8/4 looks slightly lighter than the 4/4 but will see as it becomes more exposed to the air.
